Stanford and Cal poised for tipoff

A physical start to the game. Stanford with back-to-back threes from Zimmerman and Randle (Stanford 6 to Cal 4)

The Cardinal are playing tough defense but look sloppy on the other end. (Stanford 16 Cal 13)

Stanford leads 21 to 15. Zimmerman leads with 8 points. Owens has 3 rebounds but has struggled somewhat inside. Hopefully this won’t be a continuation of last night’s game for him.

Cal has 12 turnovers! Stanford 24 Cal 19

Stanford 28 Cal 21

Aaron Bright at the buzzer! Stanford 30 Cal 23

Cal looking much crisper on offense so far in the second half. Stanford’s going to have to start hitting more shots. Stanford 33 Cal 31

Offensive struggles continue and Cal executing better. Stanford 45 Cal 48

Stanford seems to have survived the second half surge by Cal. Now we got a back and forth game. Stanford 56 Cal 56

After Game
Stanford was able to keep it close in the second half, but was never able to retake the lead. A disappointing finish to the season. Maybe we’ll make the NIT or CBI, that’s the best we can hope for. On a positive note, Chasson Randle looks like a potential star for next year,

Stanford’s only path to the NCAA Tournament goes through its oldest rival. ┬áStanford and Cal will face off 6pm PT in their third matchup of the season. ┬áThe teams have split the season series, each winning at home. ┬áThe Cardinal were led by Chasson Randle in an impressive victory over Arizona State and will come into the game with plenty of confidence. ┬áCal, on the other hand, has had sluggish play, but will be revenge minded. ┬áStanford will need a Cinderella run through the conference tournament to get to the Big Dance. ┬áBleeding Cardinal will be live blogging the game tomorrow!
